Owner’s Review
The property is ideal for many different party sizes. You will need a car to get the best out of the property, it’s a 15 minute drive to the main town, Montbron, which has bars, restaurants, supermarkets banks etc, or 20 minutes to the very attractive town of La Rochefoucauld which has more restaurants and even larger supermarkets.
As for the house, the lounge, in the original farmhouse is cool in summer but with the log burner, cosy in spring and autumn and the convenient dining area seats up to ten in style and comfort. The master bedroom, with en-suite shower room, is light and airy and the other 2 bedrooms in the original farmhouse, are both a good size and have twin beds that can be arranged as doubles. The extension in 2022 has added two more double bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms on the ground floor and additional seating and relaxation areas on the gallery upstairs.
In the garden there are several eating/relaxing areas all with parasols and the pool gets the sun all day long. It is both private and enclosed so ideal for a young family.

We had a wonderful stay in your beautiful home. It was beautifully clean on arrival which was lovely after a long journey. I hope you find everything as you hoped. We had the most delicious meal at the restaurant/ hotel in massignac, auberge de lac. Would definitely recommend.
The food market at piegut pluviers was worth a visit.
But generally we just loved lounging around by the pool, playing snooker and endless games of cluedo. The bikes were fun to use to explore the woods too.

A wonderful week away with the family
The house is absolutely beautiful with a wonderful outside area. Communication with Roger was great from the moment we booked. We had a fabulous week away.

Rural retreat
Ideal house for extended family to stay. The newly converted barn extension was great with 2 large en-suite bedrooms and a beautiful vaulted sitting room and games area. Fenced pool area made safe for young children. Steps into the pool could be easier. Communication with owner, booking and property manager all excellent.

Relaxing week in beautiful countryside
We had a great week at the property, which is located in a small pretty french hamlet surrounded by beautiful countryside with plenty of places to walk. The farmhouse is large and well kitted out with all that you need for a relaxing holiday. The bedrooms are spacious with comfortable beds, there are plenty of bathrooms, and a nice tv and games area for evening entertainment. There was only three of us, but the farmhouse could easily accommodate a large family or group. The outside space is also nicly done, with a great pool and seating area, and lawned garden space. There are plenty of shops and restaurants close by, easily reached by car. We enjoyed our stay and recommend the farmhouse.

Tranquil stay in the countryside
Lovely family gathering in a spacious tastefully furnished old farm house in the French countryside. Made use of the clean pool, bikes to explore the area with attractions nearby like castles, golf course and lakes. Roger was a very gracious host and we had everything we needed and more. Tracy was kind and available whenever needed just down the road. We highly recommend this place.

Lovely summer holiday
Stayed for a week and a great location. Located in a small hamlet it provides a quiet location. Playing in the pool, bbq, drinks in the evening. Property is large with the additional extension. Great in the evening to see the stars.

Dear Roger,
Well here we are back in the thick of it again – am busy moving dust around the house and examining my dead garden. But we have had a good run.
Thanks you so much for the use of your home. We had a fabulous holiday and it really did feel like a home from home. It was so nice to have all those personal things around – it felt like we were staying with friends.
Truus, Carol and Dave were brilliant and Jenny too though we didn’t get to meet her. The welcome pack was really welcome – loads of treats for us.
We particularly loved the pool, which was perfect – we spent hours playing about with a ball. Now we are really missing it.
Loved the wildlife in the garden – we even saw a hedgehog and a snake. One minor thing – would have been nice to have an outside light to continue playing cards until bed-time. We had to bring ourselves indoors at about 10, which was always a wrench!
Sorry about the damage to the sun-bed, we did our best to repair it and obviously mentioned it to Truus.
I am very tempted to book immediately for next year, but must get my sensible hat on. We have a very aged parent (in-law) to consider and moveable jobs etc, so we need to let some water flow under the bridge before contemplating next year!
So – thanks so much again, I almost feel like I have made a friend.

We’ve all had a fantastic break in La Veda. We had some hot days when we loafed by the pool and some cooler days which allowed us to get out and about and explore. The kids even had a fish n chip supper which they said was the best ever!! Thank you

Lovely holiday home in a tranquil setting We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Veda. The house had everything we needed, the beds were very comfortable and the garden and pool area was beautiful. We especially liked the raised patio where we had breakfast most mornings and enjoyed the pergola with candles in the evening. A real home from home in a beautiful hamlet setting. The bikes were very welcome and we enjoyed exploring the local area. We found the region very tourist friendly and local restaurants were excellent. Dear Roger We just wanted to thank you so much for letting us holiday at La Veda. We had a fabulous 2 weeks, full of fun & relaxation. We had so much fun canoeing at Montbron, high ropes at the adventure park, farmers market at Confolens, wandering around Angouleme, loved the velo rail, swam at the lake and bought a couple of amazing pieces at the briconte in Confolens. The rest of the time we enjoyed the pool, the garden & the house. It was blissfully quiet, the star gazing was great. We were treated to the Milky Way & a few shooting stars. We would love to return if you let us! I’m sorry the boys swallowed up the wifi & we broke a small plate & a bowl, the kids were trying to be helpful. Hi Roger,
Just wanted to say that the house and our week’s stay was absolutely fabulous. The pool was a welcomed addition on the days it was hot. My three teenagers on 3 of the days were stuck to the pool. The area is lovely and myself and my husband loved sitting out in the evening listening to the wildlife. Also a number of walks and my eldest at 17 is an athlete and found a number of food runs to keep up with his training.
It was a brilliant base to have and we managed to get to Cognac, Limoges, Ouradour-sur-Glane and the Chateau.
I would definitely recommend your home to anyone one else and it has given me and my husband the perfect opportunity to make plans that this is the area of France that we like the best.
All the best with the house it is really a lovely place and a perfect setting for relaxation and base to explore.

La Veda is an ideal location for a relaxing break in a peaceful, remote, rural setting. The farmhouse is more than adequately furnished in a “home from home” style and will comfortably sleep six in three double bedrooms (two bathrooms). Hi Roger In brief we went on one of the boating lakes – big tick We did walks too – big tick Star gazing in the evening with the kids – midnight feast and the milky way was a hit. the garden is teeming with wildlife for nature buffs who love that sort of thing (my kids!) It was too hot to be more adventurous. Limoges for kids – the cathedral, the aquarium and picnic lunch in the gardens behind the cathedral. Stunning views and plenty of shade. We also did a couple of museums – no china!!! Kate
